Rick Muchow’s book, The Worship Answer Book, is a compact pocket sized book that answers the questions that the curious wonder and the life long worshipers may need a sense of direction on. The sections on worship that are addressed are the basics, worship in the bible, personal worship, music, group, as well as leading and managing worship, and change and conflict in worship.
This book was written as if it was a one on one conversation between your and Muchow. The answers are not secular but more in a day to day language that imparts that as long as you follow the guidelines – done in love and accompanied by humility with a surrender of your entire life to God commanded by God – there is really no right or wrong way to worship. The style of worship- be it contemporary or traditional, with or without the accompaniment of music- is really a person preference of choice rather than a right or wrong way of being. I appreciate that this reminder is written in a non-threatening way to those who are firmly set within their belief system of worship.
This book is more of a place to seek answers rather than something for an afternoon read. You use it to address the questions that you might have at this particular point in time and come back to another part of it later. Or to the same section for further understanding and future clarification to the question at hand. I think it’s also a valuable tool for pastors and leaders of the church when they are seeking guidance and understanding when presented a crossroad of change. It addresses most of the main questions that would be presented to them as well as help guide them to answers for other questions that arise from the discussions.
