Jasper the Green Iguana stars in Jasper Finds Heaven on Earth is equal to a good home cooked meal without the trimmings.
Jasper is an actual pet iguana living with the Thomas-Barnett family, and it has inspired them to write the first in a series of books about his unusual personality.
In Thomas’s narrative, Jasper meanders around the house looking for a comfy place he calls heaven. Mommy is away on chores and so he moves from room to room in search of her. He eventually finds heaven in the warm embrace of his mommy’s arms and in the delicious food served to him by his step-father.
Born in the USA, Jasper was adopted by his human mom Robin Thomas from a pet store in Jasper, Georgia. He was only 7 ¼ inches long and weighed less than 3 oz. Presently Jasper is 60 inches in length and weighs about 20 pounds. He has never experienced a cage in the Thomas home. This igugana is quite a pet, paper trained, showers daily, rides in his own chair in the truck, scratches at the door to go out and in his home. He is never tied up outside, and he likes to wander around the grassy yard climbing an occasional tree.
According to the author, Jasper is so human that it is difficult for her to separate her feelings towards him from her own children. Everyone loves him!
Coming events have Jasper participating in two Christmas parades in the surrounding areas of Jasper, Georgia.
Although the book about Jasper’s heavenly adventure needs editing
and formatting, it is a sweet story that will be enjoyed by both children and exotic pet owners alike.
