Simple language, endearing characters, an appealing story, and pictures that add a special layer to the mix are elements of a great picture book. Kate Perry has pulled it off with Ha Ha, Baby! Perry's simple and endearing story and George Birkett's clever pictures will win over both you and your child.
This family has a problem, their Baby isn't laughing. Everyone takes a turn at trying to improve Baby's attitude, but nothing works. One by one, they do their stuff, and each time Baby just gets madder. That's where Birkette's pictures really enhance the reading experience. He reveals personalities that aren't part of the written story. I found myself turning the pages just to see what peculiar attribute the next family member would have. I admit, Grandma is my favorite. Of course, eventually, they get Baby to laugh by insisting that Baby not laugh!
It's a clever, humorous story with delightful pictures.
