Philip Gardiner, best-selling author of The Serpent Grail, has participated in hundreds of radio interviews. He hosts the international Forbidden Knowledge Conference and has his own website.

When I started reading this book I thought it was very interesting - Gardiner has some wonderful theories about the secrets that surround Solomon’s Temple. However, as I read further I discovered many of the quotes were actually other those of others and not Gardiner’s. That is a shame, when you think of how well done are his previous works.

However, I read on and found myself actually enjoying this book despite the quotes and a few errors. Gardiner has produced a book that weaves history, mythology and spiritual tradition into something that readers will be talking about long after the last page.

I found chapter one The Serpent rather interesting. Gardiner says that the snake is linked with magic in almost every culture. We know this very well because of the snake worship that happens in India but did you know how widespread this worshipping is? Read this chapter.

Chapter two explores the metaphysical relationship of the serpent to the ancient wisdom traditions. The chakra is mentioned - this word meaning wheel. Again you do need to read this to understand. I did and found I was slowly drawn deeper and deeper into the mystery.

The Void talks about energy and its relationship to the Kundalini. Quotes from numerous sources are mentioned but don’t let this put you off, read the chapter anyway and prepare to be amazed. Gardiner has a clever way of putting things together and explaining it to the reader so we can all understand better.

I could go on but I think if I did it may end up giving away too much of what this book is about. I think everyone must read this for themselves - everyone has their own opinions so it may or may not be to everyone’s taste.

I found many of the topics Gardiner discussed interesting and also the photographs that accompanies it. We travel with him all over the globe from Rome to Portugal and of course, to England. Gardiner has the rare and wonderful ability to make this type of mystery understandable and enjoyable to all. This book is a real eye-opener packed with information and religious tales from history. It may not be all Gardiner’s own opinions but still worth a read anyway.
