Finding yourself through others is never easy. In fact, it can be a long and tedious (not to mention disappointing) journey. Depending on the baggage from childhood and added baggage from the teenage years, it’s a wonder any of us know who we are and who is right for us. When one is experiencing this soul-searching journey and seriously looking for a life partner, well, it can be dangerous.

Mr. Prince Charming – the first love of our life – never seems to turn out as it does in fairy tales. Many of us remember the first, but few are still with that person. Could it be that he wanted to be the first at more than just holding hands? And could Mr. Prince Charming be the first for more than one damsel? Playing the field at a young age is normal – unless one of you are planning a life around that first.

From the first through Misters Choirboy/Gigolo, Preacher Man, Olympiad, Hollywood, One-niter, Girlfriend, Sugar Daddy, Pathological Liar, Narcissist, Internet, and Baby Daddy, Syvanna is searching. Even though she is scraping the bottom of the barrel, with each experience she learns more about herself. She has the strength and ability to change her path, but doesn’t. Instead, she chooses the final way – suicide,

It was at this point that Syvanna is spared (via a mother who wields a mean candlestick and the grace of God) and Syvanna is, at last, able to let go of the past and choose to live. It isn’t with Mr. Prince Charming or Mr. Wonderful – they don’t exist in real life. Instead, she changes her path, choses a profession, and knows she deserves the best life has to offer in any relationship of her choosing.

If we are repeatedly making bad choices, perhaps we should identify and deal with what is in our past before we make more bad choices. And, never forget – “we are – you are, I am – loveable and worthy!”

A good read for any woman.
