A Wild and Woolly Night
Author: Lorraine Lynch Geiger ISBN: 978-1-891795-25-1 Publisher: The RGU Group
You Can Purchase This Book From Amazon Bedtime can be difficult, even for a sleepy child. That’s why children and parents alike will recognize Lorraine Lynch Geiger’s bedtime caper. Phillip’s ready and willing to go to sleep, but just as he slips under his bedspread of stars, those stars turn into wiggly, wet jellyfish—HOW did that happen? Luckily (for us) Phillip just happens to have a closet plum stuffed with bedspreads. He drags out a new one with pollywogs and settles in again, but… what in the world is going on? The spread’s pollywogs grow into real hopping frogs. It’s easy to guess where this story’s going. Geiger’s rhyming text is simple and never forced. Sharon Vargo’s bright and whimsical illustrations tease you into turning each page. Here’s a hint: You might need to help your child at first, but the edge of each page gives just a glimpse of the next spread. Young children will love guessing what’s going to come to life and trample Phillip’s mattress next. Everyone will enjoy the parade of creatures, and you’ll get a chuckle out of the bedtime mayhem. Perhaps by the time Phillip is finally asleep, your wee one will be too.
