Stephen Hawley Martin, cofounder and former principal of a major advertising firm, has won a total of six national awards for book excellence. He has a weekly radio show.
The world as we know it will end in the year 2012 warns the author of this imaginative book. There is no way of preventing this from happening and those who are not fit enough or haven’t any knowledge of what it takes to survive, will not fair well. As I read the prediction, I found it difficult to digest. Personally, I doubt that such a colossal turn of events will happen. We have survived through similar predictions and nothing happened. However, according to Martin, a computer programme accurately predicted the 9/11 attacks and now it is forecasting this change of events on earth, mostly due to global warming.
It is sure to send a chill down many a person’s spine and I can candidly state I did feel a bit frightened upon reading The Truth, however when I read further, my worries were considerably eased.
If the author does believe a psychic can apport various objects simply with the power of her mind and at times have her skin covered in a film of 80% copper - he can indeed believe anything! It takes imagination and quite a gullible mind to be taken in by these theories but then again, Martin seems to know his stuff… or does he?
Chapter two explores the power of belief. Wow! This was so interesting to read and I discovered all about what the power of the mind can do.
Apparently, Martin says it is possible that Katie, the woman psychic, can cause these mysterious unexplainable things to happen to her simply because she had little education and knows no better. Because her mind is “open” to possibilities, it should indeed be easy for any person to do what science would deem impossible. I’m not sure if I believe in this altogether but a part of me is willing to accept some of this theory.
As I continued my reading, Martin refers to ancient Greek Stores and the Bible as he references all kinds of strange and unbelievable happenings. According to him, there were similar events that have happened way back in history even to the time of Jesus. And here I was lost. Since religion has never been a part of my life, I doubt these theories have any validity. Do you believe in them? It is as always left to the individual to decide.
Martin then proceeds to discuss how Hinduism fits into this spectrum. As with the cycle of life and death, it believes that a change in events in the world will definitely happen or as it says in the book: “According to Hindu belief, the course of the universe through time is cyclical. Every event has happened before and will happen again. This applies not only to the life of the individual in his rebirths, but also to the history of society, the lives of the gods, and the evolution of the entire cosmos.”
If you can manage to get your head around that then consider it the “law of karma.” This meaning is cause and effect. Basically, if we have sinned and are not punished in our human life then we will be in our future one. I find this whole thing fascinating even though I remain quite sceptical.
Again, shortly after this section are more discussions about The Bible. once again I was lostt, although another reader might indeed find all this religious stuff amazing and understand what it all means.
Chapter Seven Martin writes about our subconscious mind and says that while we may not fully acknowledge certain trial and errors in our conscious thought process throughout the day, nothing will ever be lost in our minds through the course of many cycles of reincarnation. Think about this theory when it comes to December 21st, 2012.
The end of the book reminds us: “Remember always: As you believe, so will it be for you. And don’t worry about December 21st 2012. Just remember always, no matter what happens, you are eternal.”
I think that side can be argued, especially as Martin has now succeeded in probably frightening quite a considerable number of readers with his prediction about the huge shift on Earth that is going to happen. Nonetheless, this is such an intriguing book and one worth reading. Read it and I hope it doesn't give you nightmares!

The Truth

This book clearly reminds me of this fact. “This could be the book that saves the world” is an understatement. If everyone read and lived this book of spiritual empowerment, we would never again have to worry about saving the world – as we know it.
