Shelley Anderson is the personal assistant to author Louise L. Hay. Anderson is a resident of San Diego, California and recently has served as president of the Association of Celebrity Personal Assistants. She has also been a popular Hollywood columnist.
This book proved to be absolutely delightful to review, no doubt aided by author Anderson’s sense of humour when discussing work related situations.
Usually books of this genre are mainly dull, however this one indeed was very entertaining, and I even caught myself laughing in places.
Within the book’s covers Anderson discusses the seesaw method. Seat A is full of negative vibes and feelings - all these can’t be good for anyone in a working environment.Seat B is here to offer some help to make these “issues”sort themselves out. For instance, change your overall approach toward work. Instead of always having a negative outlook- “I don’t like my boss,” take notice of seesaw seat B and think- “my boss admires my work.”
Low self-esteem can be a killer to business. Once you see how Anderson works out these theories, matters become much clearer. Her theories are intriguing to read and her advice is priceless.
Chapter four proved to be very useful where I was introduced to the L.A.R.K technique. Basically, it means listen, ask, relax and kick (old habits). The K in L.A.R.K can also be interpreted as kindness in the work place. How very true! I can’t see a business taking off if everyone is nasty to each other.
I found all this advice fascinating and if you work in a business environment these teachings can really help. They certainly have for Anderson.
Lessons, career-building changes and techniques can all help to improve where you work and hey who says this book is only if you work with the celebrity divas? It can be useful to anyone who is up for learning, can take good advice where it is needed or has a pushy boss who you need help with.
