“Firecracker” is off to an Explosive Start!

If you are looking for some great casual summer reading for your pre-teen child, “Firecracker Jones is On the Case” could be the perfect summer book.  “Firecracker Jones” tells the story of an unlikely ninth grade detective who needs to find some real answers after one of his best friends disappears mysteriously into the night.

It’s not just that Firecracker’s friend disappeared; it’s that the whole family simply left one day without any sort of explanation.  What would make a star football player, just one touchdown away from the history books, walk away from a promising future, a good school, and good friends? What happens when the adults you trust the most cannot or will not give you a straight answer?  For Firecracker and his friend Chub, the only solution is to find Ted, their friend, and find out what happened.

Ted ends up being closer than they thought, and they set out to find him.  The adventure that Firecracker and Chub embark upon one dark night is nothing compared to the truth they learn about Ted.  Will they be able to understand why Ted left?  What would a friend do in that situation?  What about the football record-how will Ted make history when he’s not even at school anymore?

“Firecracker Jones” is a captivating and quick read.  Parents should read the story, as well, especially if they are giving it to younger children. “Firecracker Jones” contains no inappropriate language, but does deal with the heavy topic of cancer amongst young people and close friends.  This could be an especially powerful book if you are dealing with a cancer diagnosis in your child’s school or playgroup.

Adults and children alike will find Firecracker to be a captivating narrator and protagonist as they journey through what is set up to be a great series of detective fiction for young adults around the world.  Firecracker is an average kid with a unique family and his own flaws and strengths.  A true every kid, Firecracker is guaranteed to appeal to readers of all backgrounds and ideologies.

Author Christopher Klim has done a little of everything in his life, but considers his ‘full time’ job now to be an author, mentor, and teacher.  He is the author of “Jesus Lives in Trenton,” “Everything Burns,” and “Write to Publish,” as well as the senior editor of Writers Notes Magazine.

Suffering from bi-polar illness Jones had begun a suicide letter to his family. From that beginning grew what was to become Paul E. Jones’ Dear World a suicide letter, a treatise of optimism rather than a letter of hopelessness. Those who endure the ‘invisible disabilities’...

The following review was contributed by PAUL LAPPEN Even the best organizations have good intentions when instituting new plans or policies. Something always seems to go wrong, because of a type of manager called the 160 Degree Deviator. These are people with their own agendas who damage company morale and cause frustration to rise. The reason that they aren't called 180 Degree Deviators is that the author gives the company 20 degrees ""credit"" for having the right idea....

The following review was contributed by: LILY AZERAD-GOLDMAN Kelly Jones has created a delightful toddler’s story seen through the eyes of his big sister, who translates all his wishes that he expresses in one word: “Mama.” In clear and simple language, we follow the siblings in a day of their activities. Friendly and protective, big sister is far from being jealous of her cute little brother. For example: “I play in the schoolyard ‘til the morning bell rings. Mom picks up my...

When a member of the publishing family of It Happened In Woodstock approached me to write a review about his family’s book on Woodstock, New York honoring the blue ray, and indicated that “This book’s stunning use of reverse lithography (white letters on cobalt blue background) activates the blue ray in every reader,” I had no idea what he was talking about. The book finally showed up in my mail- box one day, and although, you can never tell a book by its cover, this one is remarkable,...
