Through the Veil: Discovering Sacred Relationship is a true story which chronicles the journey of two souls, Jerry and Alice.  In the first part of the book we hear about their individual trials, tribulations and the lessons they learn as a result.  Jerry and Alice, unknown to each other in the beginning of their lives, were both seekers of the meaning of life.  They followed somewhat similar paths in their quest for Truth. Each one separately testing out various thought systems and "New Age" ideas.

The authors explain that their purpose in this lifetime was to eventually meet and create or experience "Sacred Relationship".  As the reader travels through the story, we also hear from the thoughts and perspectives of Jerry and Alice's Guides. We are told that their Guides are watching them and guiding them throughout the whole process.  Eventually the couple meet, though it wasn't necessarily love at first sight. They had to grow into their relationship.

Jerry and Alice share their deepest inner thoughts with the reader. The couple begins to realize that one person cannot make another person happy.  One has to find joy and peace first within themselves.  Then the point or focus becomes sharing this joy and love with your partner.  Jerry and Alice explain it like this.  "Marriage does not automatically ensure happiness.  Happiness must be an internal experience.  Outward things do not create happiness.  Happiness can't come from the external.  One can obtain the nicest home, car, clothing or jewelry, but if one is emotionally empty inside, nothing outside can create happiness.  One must eventually overcome that deep sadness and find joy within."

One of my favorite Bible verses they use to sum this up is...."But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."  I have found this promise to be very true and practical, to the extent in which I seek God first....with my whole heart.  I feel that Jerry and Alice did a great service in bringing out that point and I feel it is key to the world's struggle.  We must first establish our relationship with God.

The book goes on to say that when God is our focus,  we begin to express more of God's good qualities in everyday life.  Others can sense this goodness and integrity and are attracted to it. "Through the Veil" then reveals to us that "Then they become drawn into the arms of spiritual understanding."  It is like a light shining in the darkness. Jesus says , in the book of Matthew, "  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."   This is the only way to heal our own lives and the world in which we live.

Jerry and Alice were seeking and each time they were faced with inharmonious circumstances, they tried their best to search themselves and to try and understand why the other person was acting the way they were.  This process drew Jerry and Alice much closer into a more spiritual relationship.  I recommend this book to those who wish to discover the details as to how the authors pushed through their dark struggles into the light.
