I LOVE THE ALPHABET is the second offering from Dar Hosta, author and illustrator par excellence. She has managed to perfect her talent following the publication of her first book I LOVE THE NIGHT which was already a little masterpiece.

A graduate in creative writing, Dar Hosta’s darling alphabet stanzas wonderfully convey her playful and warm personality.

Engaging as ever, Dar Hosta’s illustrations match the concepts outlined in the text in a very innovative way using the floating alphabet. You have to look very close at the illustrations in order not to miss some witty details as for example the “bee bottoms” or the elephant page or the goat page. Among all these glorious illustrations, my very very favorites are the monkey and the unicorn pages. The collages are masterpieces again and one could guess as to what material Dar Hosta has used so effectively (paper, found objects, oil pastel, colored pencil and a digital graphic tablet).

I LOVE THE ALPHABET is a super choice for reading aloud. It entertains and instructs at the same time, a sure to winning combination. Can’t wait to see Dar Hosta’s next book!
