Nowadays if you are to broach the subject of Roswell, most people will inevitably remember the unidentified flying object that was discovered in 1947. Many UFO proponents believed (and still do to this day) that the wreckage was that of an alien space craft which had crashed to earth.
Military forces tried to cover up this discovery but of course, it didn’t remain a secret. Newspapers all over the world had their say on the turn of events and even now, more then 60 plus years later, books are still going into print with authors all sharing their views on what is known as the most famous alleged UFO incident.
So it should come as no surprise that author Thomas J. Carey, a man who has dedicated the last 16 years investigating the Roswell incident, along with Donald R Schmitt, co-author of two best-selling books on this subject, have put their skills together and come up with this well-researched account in their Witness to Roswell (Unmasking the 60-Year Cover-Up).
Chapter one explores the time that “something” hurtled down to earth. This is interesting for those of you who might not have read the full version of what happened that eventful year.
It later says that after the news of the occurrence had died down - this being many, many years - several books were being published as more authors became eager to share their opinions with the rest of the world.
Even television media became obsessed and started hosting shows, programmes and interviews with enthusiasts about Roswell. To this day you are still able to come across a slot now and again, dedicated to this much-talked-of case.
Carey and Schmitt discuss the theories as to what might have crashed back in the year 1947. Some believed it was just a jet aircraft or simply a Japanese “fugo” - a balloon-bomb.
The authors ask “which is the bogus hypothesis?” Each of us has our own opinions. Sceptics like to rationalize things, trying to find a fitting explanation whilst others with over-active imaginations might just believe there really was a flying space craft!
If you read this chapter you can make up your own mind, I’m sure.
Myth or Reality is a chapter to read next. It delves into what really could be the truth and what are the fabrications surrounding. Here there are featured photographs of Air Force and RAAF personal. One of General Rodger Ramey, the man who tried to cover up the incident by saying it was a big mistake and the craft was none other then a weather balloon. Hmmm...
There is so much else inside this well-documented book to possibly comprise in a single review, such as this.
Readers will be intrigued to study chapter 4: They’re Not Human. It presents a conversation Frank Joyce had with Mack Brazel, who had been one of the first to discover the wreckage, on the afternoon of July 6th 1947.
Joyce recalls Brazel’s absurd words: “They’re dead….little people,” then in a hushed, barely audible tone “unfortunate little creatures”.
He merely put Brazel’s claims down to something “crazy” but was it? Why would the RAAF take Mack into custody and detain him for more than a week?
I can’t stress too much the importance of a book like this. It presents answers to a theory the government withheld from the general public. It also contains a collection of photographs you may have never seen before if it wasn’t for this gem.
Full of interesting and fascinating personal facts which excites your imagination and makes you want to find out more for yourself.
A spellbinding, mesmerizing account to be treasured by all those who have an interest in the Roswell happening….Remember, the truth is out there!
