Author: Victoria C. DePaul

Publisher: Synergy Books (Galileo)

ISBN: 978-1-934454-18-3

I’ve read many self-help books, some which claim to give you a better life and others, like this one, which claim to give your business a boost.

They all have basically the same message - follow the author’s techniques to achieve success.

DePaul has written her own self-actualization/self-help book to inspire us to become better entrepreneurs!

Here she writes about leadership and how it is vital in a business environment. Also did you know that emotional problems and rivalry between employees can be fatal in businesses and lead to poor performance and other major problems?

There is a list of “Symptoms of a Dysfunctional Organization” for you to have a read. All these “symptoms” you may have heard of before  - such as lack of cooperation - but it helps to read them again doesn’t it and refresh your mind?

Chapter one explores the vital element of Energy and what this means to you and business. “Life is about energy,” the author writes “it runs on energy, it seeks energy and it transforms energy.” Everything, it seems, needs energy to perform better and this includes business. Read on to find out more.

There are diagrams inside this book, helpful pointers and many hints and tips to help your business. I also found it makes you reflect on things and many moments have you wondering “did I do that right?”.

There is also the usual Cause and Effect diagram to study that will help you if you are a boss, a supervisor or perhaps a manager.

So many other chapters explore many other angles to the business world. Are you in the right partnership? What is your goal in your job? Why do you sometimes feel undervalued? Find out more about these kind of typical questions that are reoccurring many times in the workplace.

I suppose this book can be useful to you if you are a boss or manager or perhaps just an “intrapreneur” but myself I found that many of the chapters just speak the same message as most of the self-help book I’ve read, just put into a different style.

However that is not to say this book isn’t worth reading and I think many people will find out a lot about the business side of matters that they just didn’t know about. …that’s if you haven’t read this sort of thing before.

DePaul has done a good job though and deserves praise for writing such an interesting self-help book that can teach you a lot.
