The catchy song, God Made Me!  He Made You, which comes on CD, accompanying the Children’s book of the same title, is playing in my head as I write this.  The simple rhyming lyrics are presented with delightfully cute photos of animals, such as cows, monkeys and prairie dogs.  My five year old daughter was immediately delighted with the book’s glossy photos and upbeat song.  Over and over she listened to the CD and followed along with the book, singing.

“[Birds] talk to their friends in their chirpy way.  If you listen real close, you may hear one say:  ‘God made me.  He made you…’” The spirit of the book is celebratory about God’s creatures and about Jesus’ love.  (Jesus is named in the refrain). 

The pictures are remarkable for their clarity.  Each photo is 8 ½ by 6 ½ inches, and they are just so adorable.  On one page, a wooly sheep gazes downward, each delicate strand of eyelash discernable from the other.  On another page, four prairie dogs appear as if posing for a picture; the one on all fours peers at the camera eagerly, one stands in back looking stern and disapproving, another has lost interest and turned away, and the fourth looks a little muddled, as if agreeing to stand and pose but having no idea of what is going on.

These pictures and this song will bring a smile to any child’s face.  Alan Flory has a master’s degree in special education and has been an educator for 35 years.  He often performs his songs for children.
