Click Here To Purchase Sheep For Beginners: A Dip Into The World of Wool

Author: John. K.V Eunson

Publisher: Black and White publishing

ISBN: 1-84502-040-5

Sheep, aren’t they marvellous animals? They provide us with wool in winter to keep us warm and never fail to look cute and adorable against green pastures. But what is the history behind these woolly animals? Perhaps you want to know their background? Well look no further then this little booklet for within are all the answers you’ll ever need to know.

In the bible there are apparently over 500 mentions of sheep and lambs…..500 more  mentions than there are of cats. Once you have managed to get your head round that- read on. So much history is provided here which I will guarantee you will enjoy.

Without giving too much away there are three types of sheep in Britain. What types are these?

The food and drink section of this booklet is quite good with jokes and interesting facts about Robert Burns and his connection with sheep. However I found the information provided on Haggis really distasteful. Do we really need to know the ingredients of this Scottish dish or for that matter another dish, Powsodie, which features the instructions “remove the (sheep’s) eyes and split the head open and lay aside the brains.”

I was not amused at this “joke” at all and I have my doubts that if you are an animal lover you will like it. It certainly does not appeal to me.

On brighter notes however the following sections are really enjoyable. Did you know that The Himalayas have more breeds of sheep than any mountain range in the world? Or perhaps that Lanolin is an oil made exclusively from sheep wool? Amazing stuff, it really makes you think.

There are many, many jokes about sheep. Read the joke that explains why so many people think sheep all look the same.

I did love the cute little pictures that were provided every so often of sheep . One sheep has found itself a cosy place to snooze - on someone’s bed! Myself I wouldn’t mind sharing my bed with a sheep.

This is a fascinating journey into the world of sheep where you will discover their favourite novels “Tender is the Lamb” and also films….is “Silence of The Lambs” in here you ask…don’t ask me, read the book.

An interesting booklet with jokes, facts and nonsense. Baaaming marvellous!
