Israel del Rio began writing Honeycomb over ten years ago, which is loosely based on two of his actual past-life recollections.

He decided to get his novel published via mainstream but unfortunately was told it did not fit any existing genres. However, now in published form Israel hopes to prove people wrong, believing that there is certainly a place for this genre.

Honeycomb - what a clever title for this thoroughly intriguing, human-interest novel of mystery and above all self-discovery.

I thought what a unique, amazing slant on life - an unnamed man is granted the chance to preview five possible lives before choosing the one he would like to have.

This kind of scenario asks the question - what would you do if faced with this kind of choice? One can only imagine. Would you change your life for another? I’m not sure I would but I’d certainly give up a few hours of my own to read this fantastic book! Words are not enough to convey how utterly clever it is - Rio is such a gifted writer to create a work of mystery like this.

His descriptive words also enhance this books exceptional appeal. You have to read a sentence or two to understand me better.

I also loved his beginning: “I died, I was alive and then I was born again…” this pretty much ensures the reader of a hugely enjoyable tale of mystery and marvel.

The character painted in  the story  briefly experiences the life of a materialistic man as well as a Native American who is preparing for his death, a man about to lose everything he loves, a gorgeous woman and finally a software programmer…. phew!

He learns that all these lives are linked together in some way: but what? And more importantly which life will he pick? Read the book to find out. As I read the book,

the idea of “honeycomb” all became clearer. Will you?

We as humans are often not able to chose our next life (if you believe we indeed may have one) so this book was so amazing to read and almost had a magical feel to it. It is something so surreal; yet almost touchable you have to read on.

I found it impossible to put down and really recommend this to fans that have a love of the surreal or human-interest issues.

Truly fantastic and a mind-boggling cover that enrich this novel. After reading it and loving every second, I do firmly believe there is a genre where this work can fit into and that others will likewise adore this gem.  So which book will you choose this year? Make it this one…
