The Tuscan Trilogy is the latest in a series of thrillers penned by Derek Adie Flower. After Farewell Alexandria, Inquest on Imhotep, Beyond the White Walls and Ransomed, The Tuscan Trilogy adds another jewel to Flower’s crown.
Again, the descriptions of the settings, be it in Tuscany, London, Rome or New York, are ravishing. The characters come to life under Flower’s penmanship.
The action starts during wartime in Tuscany in 1944. A poor girl, Rosalina, falls in love with a wounded British soldier called Robert Lonsdale, the grandson of a wealthy and well to do Banker in London, England. After impregnating Rosa, Robert returns to England hoping to wed her but his grandfather has other plans for him. Rosa gives birth to a boy whom she names Michele and leaves him on his father’s doorstep in England, only to return to Italy and be struck with amnesia for a few years.
Rosa marries a cousin in England and helps him build an empire.
Enter Vincent, another cousin, who belongs to the mafia, who infiltrates their company as well as the Lonsdale bank in London with malevolent goals.
The suspense keeps growing however the ending fizzles out- unless the author has a sequel in mind.
The sex scenes are titillating without being crude.Flower revisits the world of banking, mergers, and money with flourish.
However, one is a little confused with the title of this book. A trilogy suggests that there are three novels whereas The Tuscan Trilogy is only the story of Rosa and Robert.
Moreover, the novel could use some editing, as there are some typographical errors.
But on the whole The Tuscan Trilogy is a good read. It will keep you enthralled till the last words.

I Love You Like Crazy Cakes by Rose Lewis, Illustrated by Jane Dyer
The following book was reviewed by
CAROLYN HOWARD-JOHNSON
I Love You Like Crazy Cakes by Rose Lewis is a lovely little board book destined to become a keeper for any adopted child. The author sings a lullaby in prose to her newly adopted Chinese baby, one that baby and others will treasure. Illustrator Jane Dyer captures a nostalgic 40s look that still manages to look up-to-date.
A book that is narrowly targeted to adoptive parents and children, I believe it would be most appreciated by...
