The title of GM Ford’s novel Nameless Night fills in all the appropriate blanks for his latest action adventure.  He manages to keep you on the very edge of your seat from the beginning to the unexpected ending.  All the surprising twists and turns made me give up early on trying to second-guess his hero’s lost identity.

The reader can actually feel Paul Hardy’s confusion and helplessness as he strains to bring back even the semblance of a life long lost and forgotten.  Ford smoothly brings his character from the brink of a stagnate and vegetative state to the complex world of a renowned astronaut as Paul fights his way to staying one jump ahead of those who, for reasons unclear to him, wish him dead.

Paul’s life is saved more than once by the inherited family that he has come to know and love in a home for mentally and emotionally disturbed adults where he has spent the last seven years of the only life he can remember.  In the process of saving the life of an elderly housemate, Paul is grievously injured but in the aftermath begins to regain some of the mental abilities that had been previously lost to him.  It was heart-warming when his mentally slow compatriots showed uncanny ability in outwitting a group of over-zealous FBI agents and heartless thugs as this lovable group of characters help Paul elude capture. 

 Ford’s impressive writing abilities and talent for creating such imaginative characters make this book a definite can’t-put-down page-turner.  You won’t want to miss this one.  He has definitely found a new fan and I look forward to reading more of his work in the near future.
